Traceability in the Extended Matrix is a self-portrait series that delve into the evolving nature of identity and self-determination in the contemporary world. The work comprises a multi-layered atlas of fragmented elements, showcasing a diverse array of materials: work-related images, background research materials, and production notes; blueprints of gallery spaces; unpublished or unfinished data; confidential documents; and socially inappropriate materials. The artist samples from a rich tapestry of personal and public artifacts derived from both their online and offline existence. Fujiwara maps fragmented sources onto a grid-based atlas, tracing the associations underlying his practice. This unique approach emancipates data from traditional schemes, resisting the homogenization of art appreciation. The subject matter here is incidental matters, i.e., undefinable Parergon in the data-oriented time, fostering an evolving piece that transcends genre and medium. The imagery can also be considered as the artist's ever-generating autobiography, an inside-out landscape exploring the evolving nature of identity and self-determination.
