This photographic series captures the complex and evolving emotional experiences that accompanied the isolation brought on by the first lockdown in Germany. Through a meta-emotional exploration of time, the series delves into the subsequent emotions that arose from our initial feelings.
The stroboscopic reactions that flooded the comment section of Donald Trump's social media accounts served as a source of inspiration for this series. By employing the technique of Mise en abîme, the artist created a self-reflexive embedding that repeatedly projected images of the screen onto itself from various angles. The resulting effect was a dizzying, infinite discharge of emotions.
Within the blurred sky chart, the model of Albrecht Dürer's The Draughtsman Making a Perspective Drawing of a Reclining Woman was extracted and presented at a 90-degree angle, transforming it into the figure of an insomniac woman. The skulls that captivated Cézanne during the last decade of his life, including Holbein's Ambassador's skull, also make an appearance in this series. Through these symbolic objects, the subject becomes an object of reflection, sublimating the hidden depths of the screen.
The design elements of social media applications, such as the "margin of the frame," are also explored in this series. These elements merge the media with its content, blurring the boundary between the two. Despite the excessive mirroring of the attributes of solitude, the resulting images only vaguely resurface, further complicating the emotional landscape of this series.
