Satoshi Fujiwara brings exquisite techniques of historical painting to digital imagery. His hyperreal portrait of the young, the elderly and those protesting combine high-definition details of blemished skin and bleached hair with heavily saturated image-production techniques. They're often brutal yet sublime. In his new commission for Age of You, Fujiwara has produced a 22 metre-long photographic sculpture. Crowd Landscape consists of two sides and two scales. The giant faces multiply and overly-like an automated algorithm-charging the nocturnal crowd with unknown potential: democratic, violent or otherwise. (Introduction by Shumon Basar.
